ABSTRACT
Dialogue is defined as a conversation between people but in the context of classroom interchange it has a rather more precise meaning. To signal this, the term ‘dialogic talk’ has been adopted to describe the kind of interchange where there is an aim of exploring in depth a situation, problem or possible answer. Box 8.2 gives an example of dialogic talk among two girls and their teacher.
