ABSTRACT

Arguments for teachers spending the, not inconsiderable, time and effort involved to provide opportunities for learning outside the classroom include the mounting evidence that such experiences have a significant impact on children’s learning, their motivation to learn, their social skills and general attitude to school. In relation to science, in addition to the development of positive attitudes to science learning, children get the opportunity to develop and apply scientific skills and understanding in the real world. Interactive and informal learning environments have an important role in demystifying science, for parents and the general public as well as for children.
