In Chapter 3 we introduced the idea of cosets and considered some of their properties, including the important criterion in Proposition 3.7 for equality of right cosets: If   H ≤ G   and   x , y ∈ G ,   then   H x = H y   if   and   only   if   x y − 1 ∈ H .
