ABSTRACT

To a certain extent technical and tactical aspects of soccer must be trained during physical conditions similar to those found during matches, if the training aim is to be effective. The purpose of this paper is to compare the physical work load of soccer training to that encountered during real 1st Division matches. This comparison is based on heart rate (HR) and lactate measurements obtained during soccer training and soccer games. The present results are part of a large project, which also involved tests on maximal oxygen uptake and interval running tests in the laboratory.
