of increasing concern in South Island, New Zealand since 1996. A descriptive study of the pattern of
Salmonella
Brandenburg infection in southern South Island between 1996 and 2001 was carried out. GIS-based tools were useful in highlighting the changing interrelationship between infections in sheep and humans during the course of this outbreak. This chapter describes the New Zealand experience of this infection in South Island.
