FRITZ STRICH (1883-1963) WAS a German scholar of literature. Strich was born in Königsberg, historically the capital of East Prussia, but since 1945 known as Kaliningrad in what today is the Russian enclave of the same name between Poland and Lithuania. Strich fi rst taught at the University of Munich, and in 1929 became full professor at the University of Bern in Switzerland.
