ABSTRACT

This chapter promotes the adoption of an alternative approach for the productive integration of photovoltaic technology used in high-performance residential designs. Systems-Integrated Photovoltaics (SIPVs) are a more effective method for engineering solar installations capable of generating greater levels of energy performance. Considered and developed within a whole-building system logic, SIPVs advance the feld of solar technology by addressing important issues of energy production and integration not otherwise engaged in the design and construction of traditional Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPVs).
