Urban Morphology

In the German-speaking countries the subject is much closer to the mainstream of urban geography, yet still within historical geography. This reflects a weaker distinction in cent rill Europe between the study of present-day towns and the study of their historical aspects. Like urban geography as a whole, urban morphology has major intellectual roots in the German-speakillg countries. and this is important in understanding progress in it, not least in recent times.
