ABSTRACT
Leszek Kolakowski – a philosopher, a scholar, a public intellectual, whose ideas have significantly influenced Western reflection on major questions of the human condition as well as the self-understanding of contemporary Western societies for half a century – died in Oxford, at 82, in August 2010.
