ABSTRACT
During the Cold War, the five Nordic countries, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden chose to take separate paths in their search for military security. Three of them, Denmark, Iceland and Norway, were founding members of NATO, while Finland and Sweden, each in its own distinct way, proclaimed to be neutral. 1
