The Intake process is the first step in any consultation. The consultant will receive a call from management that has a perceived crisis. The consultants need to briefly educate the client on how consultations are conducted and provide a short review of their philosophy regarding the assessment of threat behavior in the workplace. Bringing an air of confidence and experience to the situation assists management in relaying crucial information regarding an individual and the perceived risk to employees or stakeholders that may exist in the workplace. The initial communication with management can be the most critical of all communications in a case consultaion. The intake procedure assists management in relating the necessary information regarding a problem to the assessor. The assessor can only react to the information made available; therefore, capturing and organizing critical information in the early stages of an assessment can be the key to a quick and safe resolution to a workplace situation.
