ABSTRACT
One of the important transitions of contemporary life is leaving home. In ancient times, children did not leave home in the same sense that they do today. Consequently, few leaving-home ceremonies have evolved over the years. Most of the “ceremonies” today are informal, such as a party with one’s friends or a special meal with the family.
