ABSTRACT

Divorce is an increasingly common reality in our time. It is an extremely painful transition, complicated by the complex feelings of loss, confusion, anger, guilt, helplessness, despair, and more. The spirit, the mood of the ceremony that is offered here is similar to that of a funeral. A marriage has died, and this death needs to be recognized and grieved. The people involved need the close support of their friends, their church, their God, so that they may get on with the task of grieving and building a new life.
