ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I discuss the implications of the present study for functional approaches to child language. I reconsider the notion of language function, as well as the notion of development. In addition, I consider the relationship of the perspective adopted in this book to central issues in the study of child grammar. In the concluding section, I discuss directions for future research.
