ABSTRACT

In recent years, racial diversity training in organizations has become a very lucrative business in the United States. The need to sensitize all members of organizations to issues of racial diversity is crucial to strengthening and promoting more effective organizational race relations. To this end, racial identity development theory is one of the most significant contributions to understanding the dynamics of race relations in groups and organizations. As organizations endeavor to further improve the racial climate in the workplace, racial identity models provide a theoretical framework within which to understand the behavior, values, feelings, and attitudes of individuals and workgroups.
