ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces a family of measures used in the evaluation of youths in a variety of settings, including court-ordered evaluations conducted in mental health settings and classification activities completed at juvenile justice facilities. The measures are the Personality Inventory for Youth (PlY), the Personality Inventory for Children, Second Edition (PIC-2), and the Student Behavior Survey (SBS). Each of these evaluates multiple dimensions of problem behavior (undercontrolled, overcontrolled, social adjustment, familyrelated, academic, and cognitive). Each collects observations either from youths (PlY), their parents (PIC-2), or their teachers (SBS) and provides standard scores derived from contemporary national samples. These measures are available from Western Psychological Services (12031 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angels, CA 90025).
