From a Decade of the Brain to a Century of the Brain

In a joint resolution of its two chambers, the U.S. Congress declared the decade beginning January 1, 1990, to be the “Decade of the Brain.” Implicit in this declaration was recognition of both the great need of persons with brain-based disabilities and of the incredible potential for new discoveries in the neuro-sciences–discoveries that were thought to have the potential to transform the lives of the neurologically impaired.
