ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes some directions for future research related to professional, peer, and parental attitudes toward handicapped individuals and to the self-attitudes of handicapped persons. It also discusses mainstreaming, the importance of attitudes to the success or failure of placing handicapped students in regular classroom settings, and the possible effects of mainstreaming on nonhandicapped students.
