Identifying Occupational Opportunities for Psychology Majors
Among the prevailing views expressed about students who major in psychology is that thei r employment opportunities are limited or non existent without graduate level trai ning. In addition, many assume that students who major in psychology are Iikely to pursue occupations in the area of human services. Although one would not be surprised at the expression of those views by individuals outside of psychology, it is disheartening to discover that psychology majors themselves are uninformed or misinformed about the
occupational merit of their training (Ouereshi, Brennan, Kuchan, & Sackett, 1974).
