ABSTRACT

In this chapter, teachers will learn how to use a special method to derive a meaningful plot from the topics in teachers unit or course. After a brief overview, teacher will walk through the method using examples from other teachers. Teacher will then complete the step himself/herself and evaluate teachers work using reflective questions. The outcome will be a title and a concise "blurb" teacher can enter into the Curriculum Design Template. The topic/concept integration gives rise to a relevant plot with local concerns at stake. Young children should not be burdened with "saving the planet." Rather, content and projects in the early grades should be local and immediate, and expand as students grow older. Teacher can enter information into the template and even work the language into teachers course description in ways that define the focus, yet don't give much away. Write a teaser for students, but hold back the full plot.
