ABSTRACT
Helping to explain the trade policy of an industry (Chapters III and IV), not to mention entire segments of an economy (Chapter II), is a not insignificant contribution. Yet this study was motivated by the implications that the export dependence thesis holds for national foreign economic policy and international economic relations as well as for theory in international political economy. This brief chapter is devoted to exploring those broader implications.
