ABSTRACT

In order to evaluate risk perception a survey was applied to a total sample of 68 professionals, 34 kindergarten teachers and 34 auxiliary teaching staff.

The survey was based in the Portuguese Law of preschool education and school safety as well as good practice documents and international standards. The survey comprised three groups. The first group comprised a characterization of the professional, the second group aimed to collect information about accidents occurred, the third and last group comprised a range of 33 questions which intended to evaluated risk perception of the professional groups about the different spaces and subjects of the kindergarten (structural conditions, playground, equipment and materials, electrical hazards and emergency organization).
