ABSTRACT

Latin America presents a complex, challenging, yet potentially rewarding business environment. Economically, Latin America is growing quickly and shows room for even more growth. As an overall trend, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and GDP per capita are rising, and the quality of life is improving in most countries. Latin America is once again opening its doors by participating in the global economy and forming more free trade agreements both within and outside its borders. Developed countries turn to Latin America for natural resources , but the region is becoming more competitive in high-skilled service industries. By almost every metric, there are countries in Latin America that are on opposite ends of the scale whether it comes to strength of institutions, political freedom, or GDP growth, for example. A well-educated and well-trained workforce is an attractive attribute for any company looking to begin operations in Latin America.
