ABSTRACT

Change is a complex process that often results in turbulence for individual stakeholders and organizations. This chapter provides an overview of key organizational change dynamics: stakeholders’ and implementers’ communication during change; current trends in research regarding change management; and some personal reflections of the authors. Management scholars and practitioners have long tended to assume the necessity of constant change and have highlighted implementers’ roles in the process of changing. Current research trends in change scholarship suggest that change is not necessarily positive or always necessary, and increasingly highlight a multi-stakeholder perspective on change processes.
