ABSTRACT

Today there is a strong focus on children’s well-being in early childhood education. This chapter examines young children’s well-being across the contexts of Danish early childhood institutions and family life. The chapter scrutinizes whether children’s well-being may be considered a professional issue, confined to and within the childcare institution, or whether a focus on children’s everyday lives across different contexts is needed when parents and childcare professionals seek to support children. The case of three year-old Victor, whose parents are going through a divorce, will be used to illuminate these central points.
