ABSTRACT
This chapter weighs a number of potential political-economic theorizations of piratical activity. I examine, and critically assess, Schumpeterianism, accelerationism, and communization as ways of understanding the politics, both explicit and enacted, of piracy. I weigh these against Marx’s analysis of circulation in Volume 2 of Capital, which I argue is of crucial importance to understanding piracy in terms of labor restructuring.
