ABSTRACT
This chapter brings public life back into the field of vision. It opens a window into global climate action and explores how the engagement of a multiplicity of actors below and above the state interact with the UN-led multilateral process, changing the global public space. The chapter then begins to develop the theoretical lenses of a new approach, which moves away from a global commons framework towards an historically situated critical exploration of transformation.
