ABSTRACT

The Internet of Things (IoT) can be described as a situation in which physical objects are connected through the internet and are able to communicate with each other and are accessible to other devices. A huge amount of data is produced by these connected devices. By combining and analyzing data generated by these devices and other systems, a new insight may be created that will be beneficial for e-governance. In this chapter, the expected benefits of IoT for e-governance are explored in smart cities specifically for better road and traffic management. During exploration, it has been found that IoT has many benefits for e-governance, which are mainly political, tactical, operational, and strategic. Finally, we can say that IoT benefits all levels of an organization for knowledge management and effective decision making, which will benefit both the government and citizens for better governance.
