ABSTRACT

First, this chapter discusses key terms, namely design, development, instruction, instructional app, and robust instructional app. Second, this chapter reveals three themes, which are distribution and development goals for instructional app developers intended to increase the proliferation of instructional apps throughout the world and to advance the state of instructional development in the field of educational technology. Then, in preparation for the design and development of instructional apps, this chapter discusses instructional methods consistent with behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism. Also to prepare for instructional app creation, this chapter describes the history of Computer Based Instruction; instructional simulations, and games; Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality, and lessons learned by educational technologists.
