ABSTRACT

Despite a small number of sceptics (Reser et al. 2011), it is now largely accepted that anthropometric sources, that is, humans past and present, are the primary cause of the earth’s rising temperature (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2007). We, as a 7 billion-strong collection of energy-using individuals, are constantly consuming more and more energy and resources to satisfy our daily needs, and the planet cannot indefinitely support our current level of resource usage let alone projected future consumption rates should prevailing trends continue (International Energy Authority 2012).
