Preparing early childhood teachers to face new challenges in the United States

The early childhood social landscape is constantly shifting in the United States (US). Teacher educators in early childhood education (ECE) must be alert and ready to adapt their teacher preparation programs to meet new demands and interests to stay relevant and remain effective. This chapter reviews background literature on ECE teacher education (TE) and summarizes and discusses a national study on ECE TE adaptations to changes in US public education.
