ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the propensity for strength and conditioning professionals to make the already complex even more complicated. This chapter accentuates the importance of taking the time to name and frame work challenges so as to provide clarity about what actions are being taken and why. The various influences on an individual’s willingness and ability to effectively problem set are described. This chapter emphasises the importance for professionals to fully understand any technologies and techniques that they use. Professionals must be able to trust these tools and be familiar with the nuances and pitfalls of using such methods. Finally, this chapter reinforces the need when professional problem setting to clearly strategise, and plan for how information and knowledge will be interpreted and used to contribute to, and improve, strength and conditioning practice.
