ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the literature on stress which placed on team members and make recommendations on how to optimize performance. During motorsport racing the pit crew is responsible for servicing the race car during the race. This can be something as routine as changing the tires and refueling the car or something more involved as repairing the car after an accident. The co-driver reads race notes from a notebook to the driver with information on what to expect on the course; any misinformation could lead to a reduction in performance or in a worst-case scenario a crash. The vibrational damage is not limited to the car and driver support systems, but it can also lead to injuries on the driver and co-driver. Mansfield and Marshall in 2001 reported that the increased vibration leads to low back pain as well as hand and wrist injuries from shifter vibration.
