In this chapter I intend to think of psychoanalysis, and particularly Jung’s analytical psychology, in conjunction with the idea of theatre, and with the god of theatre—Dionysus. There is a theatrical aspect to psychotherapy, and perhaps a therapeutic aspect to theatre, that have been, for various reasons, articulated only rarely. ¹
