ABSTRACT
Mangal Pandey was tried in Barrackpore on 6 April 1857. The verdict was a foregone conclusion and he was hanged two days later. The jemadar, Iswaree Pandey, who had commanded the quarter-guard and had not arrested Mangal Pandey, was also executed a few days later. 1
