ABSTRACT
The rationale for this book is outlined, starting from the need to curtail the existential threats of the Anthropocene Epoch by minimising the rapid, drastic and effectively irreversible perturbations of planetary conditions that we are knowingly causing. The failure of psychological factors to be taken into account and of a coherent worldview appropriate for our circumstances to emerge are posited as reasons why current efforts to tackle the immense environmental and social challenges ahead of us are fragmented and insufficient.
