ABSTRACT

Chapter Three deals with the definition of the essence of the Israel-Palestine conflict according to the works of al-Qaraḍāwi. As a religious figure, al-Qaraḍāwi defines the conflict as a theological conflict between Judaism and Islam. The conflict is rooted in the past – in the conflict between Muhammad and the Jews of Medina. It even has roots that go back further, to the conflict between Ishmael and Isaac, the sons of Abraham. In order to prove his theological arguments, Qaraḍāwi discusses stories in the Bible and gives them an original interpretation.
