ABSTRACT

Well construction and aquifer characteristics relate more to the development or redevelopment procedures on a well. It is most important to understand the well construction, such as screen type and gravel pack, and the type of development before the appropriate redevelopment method can be selected. Turbidity problems can be caused by a variety of things in water. The common causes of turbidity include, air entrainment, sand, suspended solids, and high bacterial loads. Microorganisms can also grow upon surfaces and create differential potentials across surfaces. This can now lead to corrosion. The quality of water from the well is going to be determined by the blend from the various waters mixing from the different screens down that well which are each being subjected to a different rate of plugging. Most of the odor problems from wells are due to some kind of biological growth.
