ABSTRACT

The more complex the organization the more it has been fragmented into autonomous units that deal in only a small part of the overall process. Many companies now hire specialists to train their people to work as teams and most large companies have groups to train teams; some very large companies now have teams to train teams to train teams. Once the workshop group has been selected and assigned to a task it will still take some time for them to come together as a team. Successful teams are like a well-greased machine, but they need constant attention. Like any relationship between people, team membership takes work. Each member knows that the team's success depends both on individual performance and their ability to work effectively with others. Teams, unlike committees, have certain inherent properties that make groups of individuals excel.
