ABSTRACT

Communication is the art and science of the interchange of ideas and opinions through a system of symbols such as language, signs, and gestures. The purpose of communicating with people is to transmit a message to achieve a mutual understanding between sender and receiver. Communication involves speaking, writing, listening, reading, verbal acuity, spelling, and several other symbolic characteristics, such as appearance and seating position. Then there is body language, facial expression, and tone of voice as well as inflection. The Assembly can also be a combination of the Muster and the Medium; however, some result is usually expected. An Assembly is usually called to approve or reject proposals made by other groups. The Task-oriented meeting differs from the others in that it is goal oriented and some result is expected from the session. A successful Task-oriented meeting must create something, and it accomplishes this feat by making use of the group mind.
