ABSTRACT

There are 27 tables (Tables 3.1-3.27) of paired values (labeled X and Y) in this chapter. The relationships between the paired values that can affect the general patterns of data can be thought of in terms of mean differences, relative variances, and correlations. These 27 tables give examples of all combinations of the following conditions:

E{Y)-E(X) - Delta = 0 , 1, or 4 standard deviations;

Var(Y)/Var(X) = Variance Ratio = 1, 2, or 5;

Correlation (X,Y) = 0, 0.5, or 0.9.
