ABSTRACT
The conventional design method of sheet pile wall in excavation is to use factor of safety. This paper presented a reliability based design method. The advantage of the proposed method is that the variation of soil properties can be systematically incorporated into the design of penetration depth. Sheet piles penetrating both sand and clay are studied.
