ABSTRACT

This project sponsored by CIDECT concerns a numerical analysis of the static strength of uni-planar as well as multiplanar KK-joints in square hollow sections (RHS) with various 2γ and β ratio for different boundary condition. Both gap and overlap joints are considered. The objective of this project is to provide sufficient data to define design recommendations for multiplanar KK-joints in square hollow sections. This paper summarizes all numerical results of the project. Some recommendations are given based on the observations from the numerical results.
