ABSTRACT

Some examples of bridges and architectural works in Spain and USA, partially or fully designed with tubular components, are presented in this paper. Namely, two bridges, one already built and another one under planning, both in the city of Pontevedra in Spain are described with indication of the main features of their design process and construction procedures. In addition, a bridge designed Lalín (Spain) is presented. Then, the Burke Brise-Soleil movable construction, a masterpiece by the engineer and architect Santiago Calatrava is conceptually explained along with some indications of most relevant steps of the fabrication of the structure. All these constructions can be defined as examples of good coordination between designers, construction companies and final users.
