ABSTRACT
Methanol is used extensively in industry as a solvent for many industrial processes, including the manufacture of linoleum, synthetic textiles, dyes, shoes, explosives, antifreeze compounds, varnishes, shellacs, felt hats, rubber goods, paints, cements, and inks. In addition, methanol is used as a fuel (i.e., Sterno) and as an additive to gasoline to make gasohol.
