ABSTRACT
The uses of β-propiolactone include: as a chemical intermediate in the production of acrylic acid, acrylate plastics, and esters; as a disinfectant; in organic synthesis; and as a virucidal agent in rabies vaccine, β-propiolactone was used previously as a sterilant in the sterilization of blood plasma, vaccines, skin grafts, surgical instruments, enzymes, water, milk and nutrient broth.
