ABSTRACT
The uses of toluene diisocyanate (TDI) include: in the manufacturing of flexible polyurethane foams, elastomers, surface coatings, fibers, sealants, and adhesives. The primary usage of toluene diisocyanate is in the synthesis of polyurethane foams, which accounts for approximately 90% of the total supply toluene diisocyanate. Toluene diisocyanate is commercially available as a mixture of two isomers, 80% 2,4-toluene diisocyanate and 20% 2,6-toluene diisocyanate.
