ABSTRACT

The uses of vanadium and its compounds include: primarily as an alloying agent in the steel industry; production of ferrovanadium alloys used in the manufacture of jet aircraft engines; as an industrial catalyst in the manufacture of phthalic anhydride and sulfuric acid, as well as production of pesticides and black dyes, inks, and pigments; color modifier in mercury-vapor lamps; drier in paints and varnishes; corrosion inhibitor in flue-gas scrubbers; and as a component in photographic developers.
