ABSTRACT
The uses of hexachlorobutadiene include: as a chemical intermediate in the manufacture of rubber compounds; as an industrial solvent, heat transfer liquid, component of hydraulic fluid; and as a chemical intermediate in the production of chlorofluorocarbons and lubricants. 1 , 2 , 3 In addition, it has been used in the industrial market as a fumigant on grape crops. Prior to 1975 its largest domestic use was for the recovery of “snift” (chlorine-containing) gas in chlorine plants; however, it is no longer used for this purpose. 4
