ABSTRACT
2-hexanone is not currently manufactured, processed, or used for commercial purposes in the United States. The past uses included: as a solvent in paints, varnishes, paint remover, cleaning agents, adhesives, ink thinners, nitrocellulose, resins, oils and waxes. Exposure to 2-hexanone in the occupational setting is of no great concern; however, exposure can occur from contamination of environmental media found at hazardous waste sites, or areas around woodpulping, coal-gasification or oil-shale processing plants which previously used or produce a 2-hexanone.
